Different Scooters Are Made for Different Types of Travel

With the variety of scooters that are available to you for scooting around town or for getting to and from work, if you are in the market for one of these gas saving machines, then there are a few things that you will want to consider first. You will want to consider what you are using the scooter for, the size of the scooter, how far you want to travel, what kind of weather is normal in your area and what the road laws are for scooters in your state.

First of all, you need to know what you are using the scooter for. This will help you to determine what type of scooter you need as well as whether or not the weather in your area will be an issue for the uses that you have in mind. If you are going to use your scooter to scoot around town, then you will need a different type of scooter than you would need for riding on major roads. You will also have less concern about weather as well, as you can use rain gear successfully when driving at lower speeds. The size of the scooter has a lot to do with the motor size of the scooter. Scooters come in motor sizes of 50cc to 800cc. The lower the cc the less amount of mph you can go. For example, a 50cc scooter can travel at 30 mph, while a 800cc scooter can travel at speeds over 100 mph. Obviously the smaller scooter is not designed for highway speeds and can be dangerous for you to use on the highway. This also leads to the question of how far you want to travel. Scooters are not meant for real traveling, they have very little storage space and are not designed for hours and hours of driving.

If you have a lot of inclement weather in your area, scooters may not be the best source of travel. As an exposed vehicle you are going to be exposed to the elements. What’s more, there are only a few Scooters that are designed for driving in inclement weather at all, and those fall in the high end range.
